New Kitchen Sink AccessoriesApril 2025This is kind of a funny story... Years ago Dave installed a new garbage disposal when our original one stopped working. Some time after that, we noticed the overflow from the dishwasher was pouring water out more than we noticed before. We didn't give it much thought, but it started to be a real inconvenience because we had a basket in the sink in front of it where I would dry large utensils, etc. and the water would pour all over it! We recently updated our sink with a new air gap cover to match our black faucet, and while looking for it on Amazon I found an little ramp to direct the water so it doesn't go everywhere. I showed my mom the video below, and she thought it was crazy. She said it is not normal for it to do that all the time and most of the time it never does unless the garbage disposal isn't run beforehand and it gets really backed up! I told Dave, so he looked into it. Turns out he never removed the knock-out piece where the hose attaches to the garbage disposal and the water had nowhere to go! He knocked it out — and now no more water everywhere! We also installed a button for the garbage disposal so we don't have to reach over on the wall for the switch. It is my favorite thing ever!We'll be getting a new sink as soon as we have time to have new counters put in, but we will be keeping all the new black accessories.
